Tenute del Cerro is a major Italian winery with properties in both Umbria and Tuscany, extending over about 600 hectares of vineyard land in total. The company is divided into four wineries: Fattoria del Cerro, La Poderina and Monterufoli in Tuscany, and Còlpetrone in Umbria. Fattoria del Cerro, located in Montepulciano, is the heart of the winery and is the largest private estate dedicated to the production of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, with an area of 93 hectares. Tenute del Cerro produces three varieties of Vino Nobile-the base wine, a Riserva and the single-vineyard cuvée Antica Chiusina. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has an intense ruby red color with slightly garnet highlights. The nose reveals notes of ripe plum and morello cherry, followed by hints of cinnamon, resin, tobacco and cloves. On tasting it is complex, warm and full-bodied, with a dense tannic texture and appreciable aromatic persistence.
