Vino Nobile di Montepulciano "La Braccesca" - 1999 - Marchesi Antinori
La Braccesca is a renowned Italian estate owned by Marchesi Antinori, among the largest wine producers in Tuscany. Located near Montepulciano in the southern part of the region, the estate covers 508 hectares (1255 acres) in the Montepulciano and Cortona wine-producing areas. Here, Sangiovese prevails, accompanied by small plantings of Merlot and Syrah. The vineyards, located about 280 meters above sea level on clay and rocky soils, contribute to the production of high quality wines. La Braccesca opened its first vintage of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG in 1993, with a classic blend of 90 percent Sangiovese and 10 percent Merlot. This wine was born from the historic blend of Sangiovese with a small portion of Merlot, resulting in a distinctive, balanced and elegant Vino Nobile from the best sub-areas of the appellation.
