Castello di Montepò is a prestigious wine estate located in the Scansano district in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. Founded in the 1990s by Jacopo Biondi Santi, a descendant of the renowned Montalcino family, the estate produces outstanding wines under the Toscana IGT label. Among them, Sassoalloro is a flagship wine made from 100 percent Sangiovese Grosso, derived from Brunello Biondi Santi clones. In some years, a special Gold edition is offered. Sassoalloro has a deep ruby red color with purple highlights. Its bouquet is vinous, ethereal and elegant, characterized by fresh notes of underbrush flowers. On the palate, it is dry, savory and well-structured, with persuasive tannins and good persistence.
