Cru Carbonnieu is a highly respected winery in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, France. Their 1981 Sauternes, made primarily from the Semillon grape with smaller amounts of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, is a classic example of the sweet and complex wines produced in this area. The wine boasts a rich, deep golden color and aromas of honey, apricot and candied citrus. On the palate, it is delicious and full-bodied with flavors of jam, baked apple and vanilla. High levels of residual sugars are perfectly balanced with bright acidity, making it a perfect match for rich, decadent desserts such as crème brûlée or blue cheese.
