Cave de Tain - l'Hermitage is a leading French cooperative winery located at the foot of the famous Hermitage slope in the northern Rhone. It is particularly known for its wines made from the Syrah grape, which is the only red variety it produces. Cave de Tain is the largest AOC wine producer in the Northern Rhône. Cave de Tain produces wine under five appellations: Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Cornas, Saint Péray and Crozes-Hermitage. While there are standard releases under each, Cave de Tain also produces a range of single-vineyard or single-block releases as well as a range of IGP Collines Rhodaniennes varietal wines. The cooperative has a central vineyard team to oversee the vineyards, which have been mapped by GPS since 2007 to enable precision viticulture on a plot-by-plot basis.
