Concerto di Fonterutoli - 1994 - Mazzei
Mazzei is a family-run winery. It makes a range of classic regional wines, mainly from Sangiovese. The estate is located just north of Siena (and the hamlet of Fonterutoli has a view of the city), in the heart of Chianti. There are five vineyards on the estate, all with very different terroirs. The Fonterutoli and Siepi vineyards, totaling about 40 hectares (100 acres) are the two most important and provide grapes for the best wines. Generally, the soils of the vineyards are rocky and rich in limestone, and together with the sunny exposure of the vineyards, they are perfectly suited for viticulture. "Concerto" was born in 1981 on the wave of viticulture with untapped potential, which was experimenting with new forms of farming and new blends including non-native varieties.
