Château Rouget is a 17-hectare wine estate in Pomerol, Bordeaux, planted 85% to Merlot and 15% to Cabernet Franc. It is one of the earliest official estates in the area, dating back to the 1700s, and was among the top five estates in Pomerol in the 19th century. Since 1992 it has been managed by the Labruyère family with the advice of winemaker Michel Rolland. The vineyards, on clay, sand and gravel soils, produce grapes for the grand vin and second wine, Le Carillon de Rouget. The grapes are hand-picked and vinified in oak or steel vats, with aging in oak barrels for 18 months. The grand vin uses 40-year-old vines, while the second wine uses 20-year-old vines.
