Col d'Orcia is a renowned producer of Brunello di Montalcino in the Tuscan region, famous for its DOCG wines made from the Sangiovese grape variety. Located on the outskirts of the picturesque town of Montalcino in the province of Siena, Tuscany, the estate has a centuries-long history, changing hands between several noble families before becoming a major winery in 1900. The property covers an area of 540 hectares (about 1335 acres), of which 142 hectares (about 350 acres) are devoted to vineyards. Of these, about 108 hectares (about 267 acres) are planted entirely with Sangiovese, destined for the production of Brunello, making Col d'Orcia one of the largest producers of Brunello in Montalcino. The estate's soils, characterized by south-facing slopes, enjoy excellent sun exposure, while the limestone and marl composition ensures excellent drainage. Col d'Orcia adopts organic farming practices throughout its lands, distinguishing itself as one of the leading producers of certified organic wine in Tuscany.
