Yalumba's "The Octavius" Old Vine Barossa Shiraz 1997 is a celebrated Australian icon, crafted from some of the Barossa's oldest vineyards. Uniquely matured in Yalumba's handmade American oak octaves-small 90-liter barrels seasoned for eight years-the wine achieves harmony between oak and fruit. The 1997 vintage, marked by challenging heat, saw these ancient vines deliver concentrated flavors emblematic of The Octavius style. Deep cherry red, the wine boasts aromas of licorice, cherries, violets, and black olives, complemented by vanillin oak. The palate reveals sweet berries, rich plums, and grainy tannins with a warm, peppery finish. Ideal for cellaring 10-15 years.
