Do not confuse the village named Saint-Vérand with the appellation Saint-Véran, even though the former gave it its name. Today, the appellation consists of not just one, but eight total villages, which collectively have 703 acres (1,737 hectares) of vines.
Saint-Véran is located in the Maconnaise region of Burgundy and is slightly smaller and less well-known then its neighbor Pouilly-Fuissé. Similar to the rest of the region, Chardonnay is the main grape.
The wines are consistently high quality with the added benefit of a reasonable price. Flint, nuts, and citrus (mainly orange) are the most prominent and persistent smells and flavors.
