The Gaudrie family, winemakers in Fronsac for seven generations at Château Villars, perpetuates the traditional know-how of vine cultivation. The wines of Château Villars owe their personality to the clay and limestone soils. While the clay gives them strength and depth, the limestone does an excellent job of regulating the water supply available to the vines. This is the flagship wine, aged 100 percent in French oak barrels. Twenty hectares of the vineyards, consisting of the estate's oldest vines, are dedicated to its production.
