William Grant & Sons Ltd. is an independent, family-owned Scottish company that has been distilling and selecting bottles of whisky since 1887. Founded by William Grant and now run by his descendants, it is the third largest bottler of Scotch whisky in the world, after Diageo and Pernod Ricard. The Master Distiller is Brian Kinsman, succeeding David Stewart, who had been in his role for 47 years (the longest-serving Master for a single distillery). In 1974, William Grant & Sons won the Queen's Award for Industry as Outstanding Achievement, the first Scottish company to receive this award. In 1999 it received the beverage industry's most prestigious award, Distiller of the Year from the International Wine & Spirit Competition, also winning the following year (never before has the same distiller won two consecutive years).
