Glen Grant is a Scotch whisky distillery known for its single malts. Although it is located in the Speyside town of Rothes, some historic releases can be labeled as Highland whisky. For many years Glen Grant was the world's best-selling single malt, mainly because its lighter character made it incredibly popular in the Italian market, where it was often used in mixed drinks. The Italian connection was cemented in 2006 when the distillery was purchased by the Chivas brothers from Gruppo Campari. The distillery itself is extravagantly designed compared to the functional appearance of most other Scottish distilleries. The layout of the plant has always been geared toward producing a light liquor.
