Chateau du Teigney - 1986 - Graves
While Graves produces both red and white wines, it is primarily known for its elegant Cabernet Sauvignon-based blends, which are typically redolent of dark cherries with salty spice, chocolate, and a distinctive minerality. The wines here tend to be lighter in body and ripen more quickly than those from Haut-Médoc, but still have fantastic aging potential. Located on Bordeaux's Left Bank, Graves is known for its gravelly soils, which retain the sun's heat and help ripen the grapes. In 1987, Pessac-Leognan was separated from the larger Graves appellation, taking all of the region's classified growths with it.
