Wine is an integral part of the French heritage. France is one of the great wine nations, which has influenced this sector for centuries and which still has a strategic weight in exports, thanks to important noble territories. In our store we have selected the best products from the most important regions of France as regards red wines: Burgundy and Bordeaux.
Bordeaux owes its success to particular climatic conditions, its grapes and the tireless work of the vignerons. It is undoubtedly the region that produces the most expensive wines in the world, reds from French grapes such as cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot, which make up the famous "Bordeaux blend." The official classification of Bordeaux wines dates back to 1855 and has been valid ever since. The wines are classified in order of importance from the first to the fifth cru and the only change made dates back to 1973, when Château Mouton Rothschild was elevated to Premier Cru (the others are Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Latour, Château Margaux and Château HautBrion). The classification system of Burgundy wines follows different criteria and is divided into distinct categories, strongly linked to the individual vineyards starting from the Grand Cru and Premier Cru and descending. The local grape varieties are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, distributed according to the most suitable territories.
