Prunotto is one of Langa's most famous names, founded in the early 20th century by Alfredo Prunotto and his wife, who acquired the Cantina Sociale, giving it their own name. Thanks to their passion for and connection to their land, Prunotto wines quickly distinguished themselves around the world. In 1956, Alfredo sold the winery to Beppe Colla, who expanded the vineyards in the best areas for Barolo and Barbera. Since the 1990s, the winery has been run by the Antinori family, maintaining the original style and quality. Among the most important vineyards, that of Occhetti, in the commune of Monteu Roero, is known for its ability to best express the character of Nebbiolo. The soil, characterized by sand, gravel and calcareous clay, produces an elegant and complex wine with soft and persistent tannins.
