Castello di Volpaia's 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione IL PURO CASANOVA comes from a pre-phylloxera micro-vineyard of 0.57 hectares planted to Sangiovese in the 1940s, offering a few unique bottles. The winery, led by the Stianti-Mascheroni family with Lorenzo Regoli and Riccardo Cotarella, is a leader in the Tuscan wine renaissance. The vineyards, between 450 and 600 meters, benefit from excellent exposure and stony soils. Volpaia operates organically, enhancing the unique terroir of Chianti Classico. This Chianti is a beautiful deep ruby red in the glass, with intense and complex aromas ranging from red fruit in jam and under spirits to sweet spices such as vanilla and cocoa. In the mouth it opens intense and powerful, the tannins are silky and very well integrated in the beautiful structure. Of great value is the spicy and persistent finish.
