Merlot - 2011 - La Jota Vineyard
The origins of La Jota wines are rooted in the Napa Valley, where in 1888 W.S. Keyes planted some of the first vines on Howell Mountain. Ten years later, Fredrick Hess built a stone winery and founded La Jota Vineyard Co. a name derived from his Mexican plot, Rancho La Jota. Both won medals for their Howell Mountain wines at the 1900 Paris Exposition. Today, La Jota Vineyard Co. continues this great tradition with small productions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay, expressing the fruity and mineral complexity of these cool-climate origins.
