Chianti Classico Gran Selezione “Vigna Bastignano” - 2017 - Villa Calcinaia
For a decade now, Villa Calcinaia has undertaken a redevelopment plan for the production of Chianti Classico wines, which has involved the remaking of a good part of the vineyard heritage. Qualifying elements of this replanting program have been the commitment and relative restoration of the terraced land, which therefore allows the vines to be planted according to the contour lines instead of following the maximum slope; and the recovery of the historical populations of Sangiovese 'recognized', vine by vine, from the plots of the 'camporaioli'. From this new generation of vineyards, located in the clay-limestone theater, bordered by the large umbrella pines of the Bastignano estate, the classic wine of Sangiovese and nothing else was born with the 2006 harvest, which bears the same name as the estate. An open and singular expression of the ecological niche of heat and light within which it develops.
