The wines of Château Villars owe their personality to the clay and limestone soils. While the clay gives them strength and depth, the limestone does a great job of regulating the water supply available to the vine. This is the flagship wine, aged 100% in French oak barrels. 20 hectares of vineyards are dedicated to its production, consisting of the oldest vines of the estate. Merlot (82%) and the two Cabernets are combined for the best in a powerful, very long wine, leaning on dense and tight tannins, with a dark and deep mouth, a complex and harmonious nose of black and red fruits, of undergrowth wood, smoked merrain and mocha. Broad, rich, it lets a crisp fruit explode married with a delicate wood just toasted. A large Fronsac, that time will only make better.
