Moulis-en-Médoc is a small village in the Haut-Médoc district of Bordeaux in southwestern France. It gives its name to the Moulis appellation, which includes red wines produced mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The lands around Moulis do not benefit of the large proportions of gravel present in Margaux or Graves, but what exists is mixed with clay and limestone, allowing the production of some high quality wines. The eastern edges of Moulis are bordered by the northern edge of Margaux and therefore benefit from all the important terroir. Cabernet Sauvignon, in particular, responds well to the drainage qualities of gravelly soils and produces high quality wines in Moulis.
