Morellino di Scansano "Mentore" - 2016 - Fattoria Mantellasi
This Morellino di Scansano usually subjugated by more emblazoned names has been the recipient of numerous awards in the last decade, and 2016 in particular and among the wines scoring above 90 points in Luca Maroni's "The Best Wines of Italy." Produced with 85%Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cilegiolo on a hilly terrain formed by tufaceous limestone. The color is ruby red with violet tendencies. The nose is very fine with immediate hints of vanilla. On the palate the tannin is soft but decidedly warm eed enveloping.
