A synthesis of the power of Sagrantino and the elegance of Sangiovese, Tenuta Castelbuono's organically certified Montefalco Rosso fully expresses the charm of a land of ancient traditions. The nose is immediately striking for the elegance and complexity of open aromas of cherry and morello cherry, clove ending in balsamic essences. This blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino, 8% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of underbrush, espresso, mocha and blackberry. On the palate, notes of coffee and vanilla support ripe plums, black cherries and white pepper. Firm, tightly bound tannins lend structure but need time to soften and relax.
