Recioto della Valpolicella is a sweet DOCG red raisin wine from the Veneto region produced in Valpolicella. The name comes from the Venetian term "recia" (ear), because only the highest and best exposed part of the bunch, and therefore richest in sugars, is used for the drying process. Recioto della Valpolicella is the sweet version of the renowned Amarone della Valpolicella and, perhaps because of this sweetness, lacks the latter's worldwide acclaim.
