Syrah Sicily - 2001 - Baglio Hopps
A company founded two centuries ago and a forerunner of modern winemaking in western Sicily. They began producing high-quality Marsala at the beginning of the 19th century and then expanded their range with native products. This Syrah is produced mainly for the Anglo-Saxon market, a great lover of structured wines with high alcohol content (14.5% vol). The refinement involves a year in barriques and then still in the bottle, trying to soften the alcohol content due to the heat of the Sicilian land. Baglio Hopps is now one of the most important companies on the island and a stop on many wine tours.
