Chianti Classico "Granaio" - 2021 - Poderi Melini
Podere Granaio is located 360 meters above sea level, between Castellina in Chianti and San Donato in Poggio. Originally a defensive tower, the village is mentioned for the first time in Florentine documents from the 1500s and served as a grain warehouse. The soil of the farm is very rocky, mainly composed of Alberese, a calcareous marl that is difficult to cultivate. The vineyards alternate with woods of cypress, holm oak and strawberry trees, and the soil is suitable for the growth of broom. The vines must sink their roots deep, allowing them to resist even in dry years, producing balanced wines with a tasty tannic texture. Chianti Classico Granaio, produced since 1969, is known for its freshness and elegance.
