"Barolo Riserva 1937 - A clear, light red. Dinner at a nearby restaurant provided an unexpected opportunity to taste this wine. The nose is initially unpromising, with aromas dominated by old closet and Madeira. On the palate, however, the wine is completely different, showing delicate notes of sweet, perfumed fruit, cloves, cinnamon and herbs, with a personality slightly similar to Chinato. I thought the wine would quickly deteriorate once opened, but instead it seemed to rejuvenate with age. Totally eccentric, unique and unlike any other Barolo I have ever tried, tasting this wine from an impeccably preserved bottle was an unforgettable experience."
