After the phylloxera epidemic, the Latour family replaced the Aligoté and Pinot Noir vines with Chardonnay, creating one of Burgundy's most celebrated whites. Today, with 10.5 hectares, they are the largest owners in the appellation. The Corton-Charlemagne vineyards are located on a slope with southeastern exposure, ensuring maximum ripeness. Vinification takes place in new barrels with full malolactic fermentation and aging for 8-10 months. The 2011 Corton-Charlemagne has a golden yellow color and a complex nose of vanilla, mocha and hazelnut, with a broad palate and mineral finish.
