That Saint-Amour is the northernmost of the 10 Beaujolais Cru is no small matter. In terms of soil content, there is not much to distinguish it from Maçon in southern Burgundy. The famous Burgundy limestone continues across the administrative boundary between the two wine regions, and it gives Saint-Amour good fortune to produce both white and red wines.
