Muscat de Rivesaltes - 2002 - Domaine Cazes
This elegant sweet wine for the end of a meal is made from 70% Moscato d'Alessandria and 30% Moscato grapes with small grains. Production comes after careful manual harvesting. Vinification and aging take place in steel tanks to maintain the fragrance of the grapes, and it is bottled within 6 months of harvest where it is then stored in an air-conditioned cellar. In the glass we find a floral nose that evolves toward ripe citrus and exotic fruits. On the palate, this aromatic complexity evolves toward a fresh minty, slightly spicy finish. Truly intriguing and not at all cloying.
