Chénas , the name, has fallen victim to the iconic windmill just outside its municipal boundary with Romanèche-Thorins, with Chénas producers also able to barter the often-ripped tourist spot on their labels. Chénas wines are among the heaviest (organoleptically) in the Beaujolais and are known for their floral, earthy and aging characters. Chénas, along with Moulin-à-Vent , is one of the most prized cru Beaujolais wines, and the best examples can be kept for up to ten years.
