Chateau Richelieu - 1982 - Fronsac
Chateau Richelieu is a red wine from the Fronsac appellation in Bordeaux, France, produced by the Richelieu family. The 1982 vintage is considered one of the best vintages in Bordeaux and has aged very well. The wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in clay and limestone soils. The grapes are hand-picked and sorted before fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 18 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new. In the glass, Chateau Richelieu 1982 has a deep ruby color with garnet highlights. The nose is complex and intense, with notes of ripe black fruit, leather, tobacco and spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with a silky texture and a long finish. The flavors are similar to the nose, with a harmonious blend of fruit, oak and tertiary notes. The tannins in Chateau Richelieu 1982 are well integrated and provide structure to the wine, allowing it to age for several years.
