Chateau du Teigney - 1986 - Graves
Although Graves produces both red and white wines, it is primarily known for its elegant Cabernet Sauvignon-based blends, which are typically reminiscent of dark cherries with savory spice, chocolate and a distinctive minerality. The wines here tend to be lighter in body and ripen more rapidly than those from Haut-Médoc, but still have fantastic aging potential. Located on the left bank of Bordeaux, Graves is known for its gravelly soils, which retain the sun's heat and help ripen the grapes. In 1987, Pessac-Leognan was separated from the larger Graves appellation, taking with it all of the region's classified growths.
