From above, Piedmont looks like a soft checkered quilt draped elegantly over the Alpine arc, whose covered reliefs form soft, striated slopes. We gradually draw our gaze closer and realize that each of the checkerboards is a vineyard and the striations are rows. Each row is composed of vines, leaves, shoots and clusters, which in turn are formed by berries, pearls of a treasure that will one day become Piedmont wines.
Piedmont is the treasure chest that holds these pearls.
Rightly considered one of the richest wine regions in Italy, it is undoubtedly the most important in terms of numbers, since between red and white wines it boasts 42 DOC and 16 DOCG wines, an Italian acumen in the field of oenology. One only has to think of the recent establishment of the "Royal Road of Turin Wines," a 600-kilometer-long route in the places of the capital's territory that runs through much of the Canavese, Collina Torinese, Pinerolese and Val di Susa areas. Sparkling wine was also born in Piedmont, the most famous of which (and not only in Italy) is certainly that of Asti.
