Shiraz - 2005 - Cape Mentelle
Cape Mentelle Vineyards is a renowned wine producer located in the Margaret River region of Western Australia. Founded in 1970 by the Hohnen brothers, it is one of the oldest wineries in the region and is now owned by LVMH. The estate is famous for its single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, which won major awards in the 1980s. In addition to Cabernet Sauvignon, the range of high quality wines includes Two Vineyards Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Wallcliffe Merlot-Petit Verdot-Malbec. The blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon is the distinctive style of the estate. With vineyard acreage grown from 16 to 150 hectares, Cape Mentelle also produces Grenache, single-varietal Semillon and a pair of more economical wines.
