Chianti Classico Gran Selezione “Vigna Bastignano” - 2017 - Villa Calcinaia
For a decade now, Villa Calcinaia has undertaken a plan for the redevelopment of the production of Chianti Classico wines, which has involved the replanting of a large part of the vineyard stock. Qualifying elements of this replanting program have been the commitment and relative restoration of terraced lands arranged in terraces, thus allowing vines to be planted according to contour lines instead of following the maximum slope; and the recovery of the historic Sangiovese populations 'recognized', vine by vine, by the plots of 'camporaioli'. From this new generation of vineyards, located in the clay-limestone theater hemmed in by the large umbrella pines of the Bastignano estate, was born with the 2006 vintage the classic wine of Sangiovese and enough, which bears the same name as the estate. An open and singular expression of the ecological niche of warmth and light within which it is developed.
