Originally, the term Chianti Classico denoted a medieval military coalition of the municipalities of Castellina, Gaiole and Radda. Today, it represents the pinnacle of cultural, gastronomic and scenic joys, with the Via Chiantigiana linking Siena and Florence. The picturesque village of Rietine, located at 400-450 meters above sea level and surrounded by famous names such as Castello di Brolio and Castello di Cacchiano, is one of the best places in Chianti Classico. The region, influenced by the Etruscans and Romans, was the scene of medieval conflicts between Florence and Siena, and its transformations contributed to its economic success and international fame.
