This wine, produced by Chuck Wagner and with the final blend overseen by Chris Phelps, represents an outstanding vintage, thanks to a ripening period characterized by warm months with cool nights. During the ripening phase of 1997, temperatures remained constant without extreme peaks, supporting an excellent vintage in California's major wine regions. To the eye, the wine is opaque with ruby highlights, while the nose features intense cassis notes with a smoky, mineral undertone. On the palate, pure cassis extract mingles with silky tannins and surprising persistence, with a long, spicy finish. A rich and concentrated wine, perfectly balanced and capable of aging for two decades.
