Environmental variability is also conditioned by Etna's unique location: altitude and exposure profoundly influence the slopes, generating unique microclimates for vine cultivation. Vinupetra is a Sicilian dialect word meaning "wine produced in a soil full of stones." Cultivation is done by hand using natural products. No biotechnology is used in winemaking.
