In the vineyards of Bordeaux, the 850 hectares of the Fronsac appellation of controlled origin benefit from the influence of the Dordogne and Isle rivers. The famous knoll of Fronsac stands alone in the middle of a sparsely hilly area. It produces only red wines, essentially based on merlot, which accounts for more than 85 percent of the vine addition. Merlot benefits from the high content of the sandstone molazze soils. Assembly wines, fronsacs combine merlot with cabernet sauvignon and/or cabernet franc.
On the palate, Fronsac wines are balanced, with a solid structure and a rich aromatic palette. Small red fruits (cherry, plum) dominate, accompanied by some spicy nuances.
