The wines of Château Villars owe their personality to the clay and limestone soils. While the clay gives them strength and depth, the limestone does a great job of regulating the water supply available to the vine. This is the flagship wine, aged 100% in French oak barrels. 20 hectares of vineyards are dedicated to its production, consisting of the oldest vines of the estate. Merlot (76%) is associated with Cabernet Franc and a hint of Cabernet Sauvignon in this high vintage one year in barriques (40% new). The dress is deep, the nose opens to aeration on floral, peppery and slightly toasted notes. After a soft attack and all in finesse, on the core, the palate rests on a good texture of tannins with aromas of spice and toast and shows a good length.
