From above, Piedmont looks like a soft, chequered quilt draped elegantly over the Alpine arc, whose covered reliefs form soft, striated slopes. As we gradually move our gaze closer, we realize that each of the chequered squares is a vineyard and the striations are rows. Each row is made up of vines, leaves, shoots and bunches of grapes, which in turn are made up of grapes, pearls of a treasure that will one day become Piedmontese wines.
Piedmont is the treasure chest that holds these pearls.
Rightfully considered one of the richest wine regions in Italy, it is certainly the most important in terms of numbers, given that between red and white wines it boasts 42 DOC wines and 16 DOCG, an Italian astuteness in the wine field. Just think of the recent creation of the "Royal Road of Turin wines," a 600-kilometer route through the territory of the capital that runs through a good part of Canavese, Collina Torinese, Pinerolo and Val di Susa. Spumante was also born in Piedmont, the most famous of which (and not only in Italy) is certainly that of Asti.
