Prunotto is one of the most famous names in the Langa, founded in the early twentieth century by Alfredo Prunotto and his wife, who acquired the Cantina Sociale, giving it their name. Thanks to their passion and connection with their land, Prunotto wines quickly stood out throughout the world. In 1956, Alfredo sold the company to Beppe Colla, who expanded the vineyards in the best areas for Barolo and Barbera. Since the 1990s, the company has been managed by the Antinori family, maintaining the original style and quality. Among the most important vineyards, that of Occhetti, in the municipality of Monteu Roero, is known for its ability to best express the character of Nebbiolo. The soil, characterized by sand, gravel and calcareous clay, produces an elegant and complex wine, with soft and persistent tannins.
