Connetable Talbot - 2012 - St Julien
Château Talbot is a well-regarded estate in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Haut-Médoc wine region, just north of the city of Bordeaux. The large 110-hectare (270-acre) vineyard extends north to the border with the Pauillac appellation. Like other major Médoc estates, the vineyard is situated on the banks of the Gironde estuary on alluvial gravel deposits atop fossil-rich limestone. This is one of the finest second wines of the Médoc. Connétable was first created in the 1960s. It has benefited over the years from all the care given to the vineyard and increasingly precise selections. Like its predecessor Chateau Talbot, this is a classic, elegant wine with a clear, well-designed structure and a long, fresh finish.
